“The Local ”
One evening my brother Mark and I grabbed a cab and headed into the city. We hit Carmine’s for dinner then went out to hear some live music. Eventually we cut through the park and over to 2nd avenue looking for a cold Harp.
We checked a couple of places and finally found a place with seats at the bar. He grabs a beer then heads to the jukebox, pumps a couple dollars in and plays a set. Mostly late 60s and 70s stuff. The place starts to pick up immediately. Next thing we know it’s loud, people are singing and dancing. Strangers are asking us if we played the music.
Yeh, he knew what he was doing!
The Local is a late-night crooner about the kind of bar that feels more like a second living room than a business. Inspired by nights spent in neighborhood pubs, the song follows stepping out of Manhattan’s loud clubs and into a quiet local where the real magic begins.

Some houses are built from brick and wood. Others are built from memories.
This song is a true story about the house that was part of my life for years. The kind of place where the door was always open, dad yelling ‘the music played too loud’, friends became family, and nobody cared what time it was. It wasn’t fancy from the outside, but inside it held laughter, heartbreak, late nights, loud songs, and the feeling that you belonged there the moment you walked in.
“If You Knew the Place” is about those places we carry with us long after they’re gone. The houses that quietly become part of who we are. Maybe my target market is Franklin Square, NY but I believe that there are a lot of houses around the world that hold similar memories.
A nostalgic storytelling song about friendship, family, music, and the moments that never really leave us.
